ntámłqən Community Garden & Food Hub

ntámłqən Community Garden & Food Hub is located on Sməlqmix (Similkameen) community land of the Lower Similkameen Indian Band.

We welcome you to our traditional unceded territory to share in building this
community led vision.

ntámłqən Community Garden sits on 7.5 acres of community land. The Garden & Food Hub sprang into action through 2023 and 2024, informed by deep community consultation over a span of preceding years, guided by the community’s vision and experience in farming this land, and with support from Lower Similkameen Indian Band (LSIB).

Dixon Terbasket and the garden team steward and drive the day-to-day action, now into the 2026 season, realizing the LSIB community planning and goals and the larger vision of food security and Indigenous Food Sovereignty in community.

The 2026 season priorities at ntámłqən Community Gardens:

Community

• Expand workshops, training, and community events, with a focus on food skills
• Explore and test opportunities for youth involvement and youth employment
• Deepen relationships with community members and collaborators 

Land, Food, and Garden

• Increase food production in the garden from previous growing seasons
• Develop plans for a native plant nursery in collaboration with Skulqalt Forestry and LSIB’s Natural Resource Dept
• Plant a second apple orchard (springtime)

Infrastructure

• Complete construction and full outfit of four on-site facilities: workshop, processing kitchen, root cellar, learning centre
• Strengthen resource partnerships and funding opportunities
• Prioritize business planning & sustainability
